My name is Dorit. I am 34 years old, living in Copenhagen, Denmark.
When I started working with polymer clay I fell in love immediately with the endless opportunities it provides. I am inspired by the wonderful colors available and I enjoy using the various techniques that can be used. This magical material has brought me a lot of joy and satisfaction Since I discovered it.
What is Polymer Clay?
Polymer Clay is a material based on P.V.C which is a type of plastic. This material may be sculptured into a desired form and set by baking in any domestic oven. Working with this material may be done by using several different techniques. One of my favorite techniques which I use the most is called the "Millefiori'' (The Thousand Flours). This technique has been used for many years in which the clay is formed into various rolls to create different flowers. I am using this technique to cover various items that may be made from either glass, ceramics or steel. This method of coating relates to me the most. Polymer Clay has many advantages that make it amongst the most preferred material by sculpturing artists. The clay may be stored after opening and doesn't dry out. After forming the sculpture, the work may be set in a domestic oven at a relatively low heat. A wide range of colors are available. In Denmark two types of Polymer Clay are available, "Fimo" and "Cernit". The material is not poisonous as long as the product's baking instructions are followed correctly to rule. In the case of baking the Polymer Clay too long or too hot poisonous gasses may be released. It is important to keep working tools separate from food utensils. Washing of hands is recommended after use.
My work is available to the general public. I am also offering courses to those who are interested. During the course participants will become familiarized with the Polymer Clay and discover its endless potentials while learning various techniques. No previous knowledge is necessary. Lessons are available either privately or in small groups. Lessons are in English only.
